Our Military Protects, Not Harms, Civilians

Throughout history, service members have faced unfair and damaging rhetoric.

Vietnam Era (Then):
• Called “baby killers” or labeled cowards, despite acting under extreme danger.
• Blamed personally for an “immoral war” they didn’t decide.

Modern Conflicts (Now):
• Some claim U.S. forces are “worse than Nazis” or don’t care about civilians, especially after incidents like the school bombing in Minab, Iran.

The truth:
• The U.S. military would never deliberately target a school or civilians. Soldiers are trained to protect innocent lives whenever possible, and friendly fire and the fog of war are complex realities.
• The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) ensures discipline, accountability, and rehabilitation, often misunderstood by the public.
• Many in our military are young Americans from all walks of life. Would you want your son or daughter mischaracterized in such a damaging and public way while protecting your freedoms?
• Investigations may be classified or ongoing to protect legal, operational, and morale interests.

Believing that service members purposefully harm civilians is not only false, it’s damaging. Public education is key to honoring those who serve with integrity.
